i really dont understand *sigh* i want to do rainbow letters so bad i think the part im stuck at is when you duplicate the layer and lock it are you using the gradient tool on the layer you locked on i guess im just condfused in that general area cause when i lock a layer i cant do anymore on that layer cause its locked and also what do you mean by move that layer slightly off from the black lettering im just so confused (i have photoshop cs5)
if you have the time could you please help me understand this better,Thank you

_{that worked with gimp but photoshop 7.0 said; "Could not use the gradient tool because the layer is locked." baww, i just wanna rainbowletter but ps don't let me. so what to do?
